Sumner High School’s Olivia Durham and Tom Murphy will advance to state to represent the girls and boys golf team.

Durham came in sixth at the Gold Mountain Golf Course state qualifier, with a score of 101. The top seven placers from the girls tournament move on to state.

Murphy tied for fifth with a score of 83. The top eight placers in the boys tournament move on to state, and ties for second and fifth place mean 10 boys will move on to state from that tournament.

Four additional boys qualified for state during the regular fall season: Brandon Barlow, Kai Taylor, Austin Spanier and Carson Dunham.

The boys State Golf tournament will kick off with a practice round on Monday. Competition begins in earnest 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Classic Golf Course in Spanaway. Top 40 athletes (including tied golfers) will tee off on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the girls State Golf tournament will take place at Lake Spanaway Golf Course. The Tuesday match up will begin at 7:30 a.m.
