Sumner High swimmers break six school records

The Sumner High girls swim team set six school records Thursday at the Class 2A swim meet.

The Sumner High girls swim team set six school records Thursday at the Class 2A swim meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Finals begin today, Wednesday, at 1:45 p.m.

The Spartans kicked off the meet with a record-setting performance in the 200-yard medley relay, sprinting to first with a time of 1 minute, 54.41 seconds.

Madison Munger followed it up with a first-place, school record 2:09.95 in the 200 individual medley. She also set a SHS record with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly. Her time was 58.90 seconds.

Sami Hendricks won the 50 freestyle with a record-setting 24.27. She also raced to the SHS 100 freestyle record, finishing second in 53.08.

The 200 freestyle relay set the last record of the day with a winning 1:42.48.

Emma Thompson finished third in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.10. Ashley Huynh finished 11th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.18.
