The Sumner High girls notched close to 30 personal records en route to running away with 137-12 and 94-55 victories over Clover Park and White River in Thursday’s track and field action at Sunset Chev Stadium.
Sprinting sensation Ashlee Sincraugh won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes with times of 12.57, 26.29 and 59.64 seconds, respectively, while hurdler Kaylee Holloway took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.98 seconds and second in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Spartan girls accomplished great things in the distance running events as well when Stefani Castile brought home gold in the 3,200 meter jaunt with a clocking of 12:52.16. Gabby DeGoede claimed silver in both the 800 and 1,600 meters.
Sumner’s girls also took first in the 400- and 1,600-meter relays. In the 400, the team of Tyeanne Lubking, McKenna Woodworth, Leah Engelhardt and Leah DeDominces scooted to a clocking of 53.20 and in the 1,600, the team of Sincraugh, DeDominces, Tesa Hansen and Megan McDaniel won in 4:11.93.
Jessica Vandergiessen took the high jump competition with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches. Additionally, the jumping team of Vandergiessen, Lubking and Leia Fecteau finished one, two, three in the long and triple jumps as Fecteau won the triple jump with an effort of 33-4.25.
Kayla Roberts won the shot put with a toss of 35-7.75, barely beating teammate Veronica Carnahan, who hurled the orb 35-7.25. In the discus, Carnahan took second with a twirl of 85-10 and Roberts’ best try spun 76-8, good enough for a third place.
The SHS boys had a few top-flite individual efforts but lost to White River 98-47 and Clover Park 76-65.
Kevin Johnson flew to a first-place time of 11.36 in the 100 meter dash, while Ryan Daigle was third place in the 200 meters.
Alex Griffith earned golds in both the shot put and discus events with a put of 49-10.5 inches and a throw in the discus of 162-10.
Seth Rodriguez dominated the javelin field with a toss of 167-11.
Kevin Johnson and Grant Stevens tied for second place in the pole vault with efforts of 12-0.
Brandon Hilden finished third in the triple jump and high jump, while freshman Kameron Thompson flew to a third place distance of 18-9.5 inches in the long jump.
