In the three South Puget Sound League 3A contests the Sumner High boys soccer team has participated in this season, it has yet to score a single goal and yet at 0-2-1 is not the league’s cellar dweller.
The Spartan booters hosted two league opponents – April 5 Sumner welcomed Auburn Mountainview to Sunset Chev Stadium and tied the Lions at zero.
On April 7, Sumner hosted Enumclaw and lost 1-0 courtesy of EHS striker Justin Williams, who slipped one past Spartan junior, goalkeeper Zach Bowers 2 minutes into what became a defensive struggle.
To Bowers’ credit, thanks in part to his supporting cast, Sumner’s stingy contingent has relinquished two goals in 240 minutes of play, as the Sparts also lost their league lid-lifter 1-0 to Lakes March 31.
