After suffering two consecutive losses, the Bonney Lake Panthers recovered in grand fashion with a 3-1 South Puget Sound League 3A upset win over previously unbeaten Auburn Mountainview Oct. 21 in Auburn.
The Lions (13-1, 7-1 league) came into the game ranked No. 4 in the Washington State Coaches Association polls for Class 3A.
Auburn Mountainview won the first match 25-22, before the Panthers (9-4, 5-2 league) reeled off three consecutive wins, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.
Allison Hills and Danielle Norton combined for 27 kills for the Panthers. Hills had a game-high 15 and Norton recorded 12, while Chelsea Merkel dished out a game-high 43 assists.
Defensively for the Panthers, Karly Edwards came up with 28 digs and Hills had 15.
Erica LeFeverf served five aces in the win.
Bonney Lake will close out the regular season Oct. 26 at Sumner.
