White River High registered a clean sweep Thursday afternoon, defeating visitors from Sumner and Clover Park in South Puget Sound League 3A track and field competition.

The Hornet boys improved to 6-0 by defeating Clover Park 111-33 and Sumner 101-44. White River’s girls jumped to 4-2 with a 78-72 decision over Sumner and a 127-17 drubbing of the Warriors.

The Hornet boys received a pair of first-place finishes from Kramer Green and Grant Peckham. Green clocked a time of 16.33 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 40.8 in the 300-meter hurdles, while Peckham went 143 feet, 9 inches in the discus and 44-3 in the shot put.

Also winning events were Marcus Dickson, who had a time of 4:31.87 in the 1,600 meters; Collin Green, 50.4 in the 400 meters; Matt Dickson, 2:02.71 in the 800 meters; Sterling Frye, 10:32.39 in the 3,200 meters; Aaron Toman, 12-0 in the pole vault; and the 1,600-meter relay team with a time of 3:26.82.

Carley McCutchen was a two-time winner for the White River girls, taking the long jump with an effort of 15-6 and winning the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.35.

Other winning efforts for the White River girls came from Ashley Llapitan, who toured the 3,200 meters in 12:10.02; Cassidy France, 13.42 in the 100 meters; Lauryn Wate in the 800 meters; Kristine Brons, 27.59, 200 meters; Antoinette Scholes, 101-0, discus; Hailey Menzel, 8-6, high jump; Alysa Aasheim, 100-1, javelin; and the 800-meter relay team with a time of 1:49.81.

White River High also was well represented Saturday at the big Shelton Invitational. The Hornets boys placed seventh in a field of 60 teams while the girls wound up 20th.

Kramer Green won the 300-meter hurdles, setting a school record with a time of 39.49. Other noteworthy individual efforts were turned in by Marcus Dickson, fourth in the mile; Austin Shirey, fifth in the pole vault; Collin Green, fifth in the 400 meters; and Peckham, eighth in the discus. White River’s 1,600-meter relay team, consisting of the two Dicksons and two Greens, finished second.

For the White River girls, the top Shelton finishers were McCutchen, third in the 300-meter hurdles, and Wate, sixth in the mile. Running in the frosh-sophomore division, France was third in both the 100 and 200 meters while Amy Brons was eighth in the 200.

The White River crew completes its regular season with a home meet Thursday afternoon against Enumclaw and Auburn Mountainview. Subdistrict competition will be May 14 and 16 at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner, the district meet is set for May 22-23 at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma and the state meet will be on May 29-30, also at Mount Tahoma.
