Without a medalist, the White River girls golf team was still able to secure a 36-24 league win over Washington during play Thursday.
The same day, the Hornets also posted a 67-36 loss to Franklin Pierce, evening their SPSL 2A record at 1-1.
Against Franklin Pierce, the Cardinals’ Domminque Knapp earned medalist honors with a 3-over par 38 at Tapps Island, while Jasmine Kine earned that honor for Washington with a 45 on par-35 Tapps Island course.
White River boys open with victory
White River’s boys golf team stampeded into the 2011 season with a 54-36 win over Washington and a narrow 59-54 loss to Franklin Pierce in a double-header Thursday at Brookdale Golf Course in Tacoma.
The Hornets were led by Zach Howard, who shot 44 with 12 points. Tyler Sherstobitoff, Ryne Peterson and Trever Anderson each shot 43 with 11 points.
White River plays Fife today, Wednesday, at Tapps Island and faces Sumner Thursday at Linden Golf Course.
