Explosive offenses and stingy defenses made last weekend a success for the Plateau’s two football programs.
In rolling to a pair of victories, Enumclaw and White River combined to outscore their opponents 102-0.
Here’s a look at how the routs unfolded.
WHITE RIVER
Playing on their home turf at Arrow Lumber Stadium, the Buckley boys had little trouble swamping the visitors from Fort Vancouver High School. In a nonleague contest, White River blasted the Trappers 66-0 on Saturday afternoon.
After opening the season 0-3 under new coach Wyatt Evenson, the Hornets have won two of their last three – the victories came in lopsided fashion and the loss was a tough three-point decision.
Against Fort Vancouver, the Hornets rolled behind backup quarterback Tristan Waterman who was filling in for the still-injured Aaden Rathbun. The junior tossed five touchdown passes, four to Tate Bowen and one to Tyler Roach.
The scoring also included a pair of short TD runs by Landon Mollett, a touchdown run by Mason Locke, a field goal by Dekker Plaster and an interception return by Tyce Donovan. In addition, Plaster was a perfect 9-for-9 on extra-point kicks.
Evenson was able to substitute freely and still not worry about the Trappers mounting any sort of threat. Fort Vancouver had very little in the way of total offense and did not register a single first down.
ENUMCLAW
Big things are expected from a team sporting an undefeated record and carrying a No. 1 statewide ranking. The Enumclaw High crew didn’t disappoint, dismantling the Washington Patriots 36-0 during a Friday night, on-the-road contest.
It wasn’t the easiest victory on the Hornets’ schedule, as EHS managed just a 7-0 halftime lead. The second half, however, went entirely the way of the Hornets who improved to 5-0 in South Puget Sound League 2A play (6-0 overall).
The win was sparked by four touchdown passes from quarterback Gunnar Trachte. Two went to Karson Holt and one each was delivered to Landon Brauer and Alec Johnson. Drew Francis joined the TD parade by scooping up a fumble and returning it for a touchdown.
Enumclaw outgained the Patriots 334 to 189 in total offense. Trachte completed 13 of his 24 passes for 228 yards and the Hornet offense added another 106 yards on the ground.
