White River High sharpshooter Malia Froemke recently etched her name into the school’s record books by draining 10 long-range shots in a single game.
The scene was the White River gymnasium and, on the evening of Jan. 8, Froemke tied the Hornet record for 3-pointers. The only other Hornet to connect on 10 shots from beyond the arc was Georgia Lavinder, now a member of coach Chris Gibson’s staff.
Froemke’s special night began with a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter. But it was the second period where she really heated up; her 14 points during that eight-minute span include four shots from long range and her only 2-pointer of the evening.
After going scoreless during the third quarter, Froemke closed with a bang, adding four 3-point shots in the final frame to finish with a season-high 32 points.
