Sam Lovelace won the 112-pound title and the White River High girls wrestling team placed third in Elma, Wash., Thursday, four points behind No. 2 Kelso. Sedro Woolley won the tournament.

The Hornets return to South Puget Sound League 3A action at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at Enumclaw and then host Bonney Lake Thursday before heading to Kelso, Wash., for a tournament Friday and Saturday.

Lovelace earned her championship by defeating Andrea Iverson of Sedro Woolley.

Hornet Mikaela Kilcup was a runner-up at 152 pounds, dropping her title match to Lilia Gudzyuk of Auburn Mountainview. Teammate Kamyriah Padgett was also a second-place finisher, succumbing to 171-pound Faith Wesmund of Fife in the final.

At 145 pounds for the Hornets, Kylie Englebert finished third, scoring her win after Keana Andrews of Kelso pulled out with an injury.

The Hornets scored three fourth-place finishes, Jesslyn Blue at 135 pounds, Dylan Fagan at 140 and Sam Mitchell at 160. Blue earned her fourth-place in a loss to Hannah Stippich. Jamie Randall of Sedro Woolley got the best of Fagan and Mitchell fell to Kendra Bukavac of Orting.

WRHS’s Nicole Crain finished fifth by pinning Mary Mortensen of Kelso and Jaileane Summers placed eighth by injury default. Asley Maki wrestled at 125.
