WRHS moves homecoming parade, football game date back

Due to an official shortage, the events are now scheduled for Oct. 17.

White River High’s homecoming football game, along with the traditional parade through downtown Buckley, has been moved up by 24 hours.

An ongoing shortage of officials has caused the game to shift from Friday, Oct. 2 18, to Thursday, the 17th. The contest against Kent-Meridian will kick off at 7 p.m. at Arrow Lumber Stadium on the White River campus. The parade will roll along Buckley’s Main Street at 5 p.m. on the 17th.

The change means the Hornets will play two Thursday games in a row. The following week’s contest against Decatur High is set for Oct. 2 24 at Federal Way Memorial Field.

With the homecoming football game moved up a day, a Hornet girls soccer game has also seen a schedule change. The soccer game initially set for Oct. 2 17 will now be played Oct. 2 22. Game time is 7 p.m. on the White River campus.

Other homecoming activities include the annual pageant for homecoming royalty, taking place at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 15 in the WRHS theater, and the homecoming dance at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 19 at the school.
