The White River Hornets improved to 4-2 in South Puget Sound League 2A soccer play with a Thursday night, home-field victory over the Franklin Pierce Cardinals.
The game-winner came in the 53rd minute when Kinsey Gandel scored. In the first half, the Hornets received a goal from Cassidy France in the 26th minute but saw the Cards tie things shortly before intermission.
Thursday’s victory was the second of the week for the Hornets, who traveled to Eatonville Sept. 28 and left town with a 4-1 win over the host Cruisers.
Gandel scored a goal in each half and other Hornet tallies came from Ashley Powell and Payton Bushaw. The Cruisers’ only score came on an “own goal” credited against the Hornets.
