The White River High Hornets saw their soccer season come to an end during Saturday’s West Central District play.
Facing a familiar foe, the Hornets fell 3-0 to the Franklin Pierce Cardinals in a loser-out, winner-to-state game. The contest was staged on the Cards’ home turf.
Both members of the South Puget Sound League 2A, it was the third meeting of the season between the teams – and win No. 3 for the Cardinals.
During the regular season, Franklin Pierce went 12-2 to place second in the SPSL 2A. White River’s 8-4 mark left the Hornets in fourth.
White River had kicked off its postseason adventure May 11 with a 3-2, shootout victory over Tyee High. The game was played at Foster High in Tukwila.
White River’s Zac Morris scored the game’s first goal and, after the Hornets fell behind 2-1, Johnny Anaya registered the game-tying goal in the 67th minute.
