Nineteen White River High track and field athletes kept their seasons alive with Top 6 finishes during subdistrict competition at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

They now turn their attention to the West Central District meet, slated for Friday and Saturday, also at Sunset Chev Stadium. At districts, all will be shooting for a berth in the following weekend’s state meet at Mount Tahoma. The top six will move along to state.

Among the White River girls, Lauryn Wate won the subdistrict 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 29.08 seconds; she added a second-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.23. Jade Crawford was first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.27 and placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.10; Kelly Coyle finished second in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches

Also advancing was the 4×100-meter relay team of Johnna Coughlin, Payton Bushaw, Katy Flanigan and Kinsey Gandel, who finished fifth with a time of 58.16. The 4×200 team of Bushaw, Coughlin, Flanigan and Kennedy Hobart was third with a time of 1:55.09 and the 4×400 relay team of Coughlin, Wate, Macaela Bickel and Hobart finished third with a time of 4:28.23.

Among the White River boys, Marcus Dickson was a two-time winner, capturing the 800 meters in 1:57.65 and the 1,600 meters in 4:32.61. He had tied the state-best time with a 1:53.52 during Friday’s preliminaries.

Kody Gould won the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:52.06 and placed second in the 1,600, finishing in 4:33.55.

Also moving along to districts were Anthony Dove, second in the 400 meters, 52.69; Austin May, fourth, 400 meters, 53.73; Nate Lenhart, third, 800 meters, 2:03.85; Devin Liebel, second in both the 110-meter hurdles, 16.95, and 300-meter hurdles, 39.53; Josh Miller, fifth, 300-meter hurdles, 42.76; Blake Maresh, third, shot put, 44-4.25; and David Meagher, fifth, shot put, 42-01.

Also advancing to district competition was the 4×400 relay team of Dickson, Dove, Liebel and May, first place, 3:28.17, and the 4×100 relay team of Dove, Miller, Liebel and Xavier Russell, sixth place, 46.37.
