The rising costs of pharmaceuticals has been a hot topic, most recently with the price hike of the allergy medication EpiPen. This trend has caused some people to seek prescription drugs outside of pharmacies by hunting online and across the border.

With the return of Friday Night Lights came a battle of rivals.
Officers were called on Aug. 31 to a potential residential burglary. The victim reported hearing strange noises outside her home in the early morning but thought it was her cat. Later, her in-home furnace alarm went off, telling her the thermostat outside was malfunctioning. She inspected the thermostat, which was missing, although the mount was in place.
On Aug. 28 officers pulled over a vehicle with registration that expired last month. The driver said he did not have a license on him and it was suspended, and the vehicle belonged to the female passenger. A records check revealed the male driver also had warrants out of Fife, Milton, and Federal Way, but all three city police departments declined to take custody of him.
Officers pulled over a car on Aug. 26 for failing to yield the right of way for oncoming traffic. Officers smelled burnt marijuana coming from the car. Officers had to remind him multiple times for his registration and insurance.
On Aug. 24, officers pulled over a vehicle going 55 in a 40 miles per hour zone. The male driver admitted to having a little to drink. Field sobriety tests showed the man was under the influence, and he was arrested and the car impounded.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation will host its seventh annual Touch-A-Truck event Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sprinker Recreation Center, 14824 C St. S. in Tacoma.
