Last Friday Vernon Curry, Jr., 34, was sentenced to over 47 years in prison for the murder of Michael Ward in the Lincoln District of Tacoma in September of 2014. A jury convicted Vernon Curry, Jr. of first degree murder following a three week-long trial in May.

This Saturday is National Trails Day, and it’s a great reason to try out–or enjoy again–the Sumner Link Trail. I know this is not the Pacific Crest Trail or the Wonderland Trail, but it is a great 5.5 mile run along the White River that doesn’t make you pack up and drive to access. Abuse is a learned behavior; it’s not caused by anger, mental problems, drugs or alcohol or other common excuses.
As summer approaches, many teens are excited to have their first real jobs. Unfortunately, while working, some of them will be hurt — possibly seriously. Young workers have a higher rate of getting hurt on the job than older adults. In Washington, 635 work-related injuries to teens age 17 and under were reported in 2015.
