Silver and blue pinwheels have taken over the front lawn of Pierce County Juvenile Court, and are springing up around Tacoma and Pierce County to help bring awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.
The Pierce County Council is putting a question concerning marijuana before the voters during the April 26 special election: Should the production, processing and sale of marijuana be allowed in unincorporated Pierce County? This nonbinding advisory vote is meant to inform the council on the public’s opinion of Ordinance 2015-27s, which will lift the current ban on marijuana businesses in unincorporated parts of the county July 1.

A few days leading up to an exciting event, I usually can’t sleep. I’m just so excited! Two nights before my first caucus, I couldn’t sleep. This time, it wasn’t because I was super excited.

Officers observed a female driver with her hands above her head and wearing no seatbelt March 28. After stopping the car, the driver told officers she was putting on her hat. However, officers smelled marijuana coming from the car.
Officers were contacted March 27 to a report of three juveniles entering businesses through an unlocked roof hatch. Officers found and detained the three, who admitted to entering the closed business through the roof, but they were just joking around.
On March 25 officers observed a car with several large cracks in the windshield, impairing the driver’s ability to see. Officers attempted to pull over the male driver but he kept driving until he pulled into a driveway, approximately a mile later.
