This cartoon is dedicated to Sound Transit, which has decided to put off connecting Tacoma and Everett to light rail until 2041. They’ll be adding West Seattle, Ballard and a new downtown tunnel first.
Yesterday Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist charged Min Sik Kim, 30, with murder in the second degree for shooting a shoplifter, 21-year-old Jakeel Rashon Mason, in the back as he tried to flee from Kim’s store. Kim is scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in room 270 of the County-City Building in Tacoma.

It was my privilege to attend the Saturday night performance of this absolutely enchanting musical at Sumner’s Performing Arts Center. The cast was impressive. The audience was told that only three of the cast of some forty some members were “dancers” – one would never have guessed given the variety, complexity and number of dancers involved.
Around 2:30 p.m. today, a semi-truck lost control on southbound SR 167 and spilled onto its side, blocking all lanes of traffic. The driver was extracted and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Sex isn’t the answer. That should be obvious by now, but in our adolescent culture we can’t seem to grasp the obvious, so we suffer the consequences. Like a drug addict who keeps going back to the stuff that’s killing them, we chase romance as if it’s religion and desirability as if it’s a virtue. It’s not just men who buy the lie but women as well, vainly imagining that there is real power in allure, and so we cultivate our appearance to that end. But it’s a road to nowhere, both now and forever.
Bonney Lake is packing up the pump. Last Thursday, the city ended the month-long process of pumping water off several streets that started flooding last winter.
