The signs of spring are all around us – the robins are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and Cascade Water Alliance has started diverting water into Lake Tapps. The company stopped releasing water from the lake in the beginning of February. Filling the lake from White River was set to begin March 1.
The Puget Sound was warned of a wind advisory from noon to 9 p.m. today by the National Weather Service in Seattle. The wind is predicted to get up to speeds of 45 miles per hour, with the stronger winds occurring later in the day.

Officers were driving down SR 410 on Feb. 17 to check a business parking lot for drug activity. Officers ran a record check on a car parked in the lot with a male and female standing next to it.
On Feb. 21 officers responded to a report of malicious mischief. The reporting party told officers the passenger window was broken, but it didn’t look like anyone tried to enter the car. He also told officers someone cut the brake line a few months ago.
On Feb. 18 officers observed a car with expired tabs driving down SR 410. After pulling the car over and asking for papers, the driver told officers he recently bought the car and was in the process of transferring the title, and had purchased a temporary permit for the car.
Officers responded to a report of theft on Feb. 23. The reporting party told officers she saw neighbors taking water from another neighbor’s faucet.
Officers were on scene for an unrelated call when a female exited a nearby business without paying for her merchandise. Officers quickly detained the female.
It’s looking like Bonney Lake has a handle on the flooding that has plagued some city residents for the past couple months. Residents along 62nd Street behind Lakeridge Middle School started noticing at the end of December that rain water wasn’t draining back into the ground like in previous years.
