Both the Sumner Spartans and Enumclaw Hornets continued their hot starts, while the White River crew picked up their opening win of the campaign.
The Hornets return a handful of volleyball players from last year’s team that went undefeated during the regular season and placed fourth at the Class 2A state tournament.
Last season’s team fell short of making the state playoffs, dropping a loser-out contest to River Ridge, and most of those Hornets were lost to graduation. It’s up to their replacements to take the next step.

Several Panthers and Hornets took to the mats at the USMC Cadet and Junior Nationals in July.
She was ranked in the top 10 back in February, but seems she won’t stop until she’s on top.
White River’s Megan Vandegrift and Bonney Lake’s Brooke Nelson were among the top players this year.
